In
an unprecedented decision, Federal District Judge William H.
Yohn refused to accept four amicus briefs filed in support of
death-row political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal.
Amicus
briefs are legal arguments submitted to the court by groups
that are not a party to the case but have an interest in its
outcome. All four amicus briefs are available from the International
Concerned Family & Friends Web site, www.mumia.org.

I
hope that you all know, Judge Yohn has denied the four Amicus
Briefs that we filed before him. The thing that most people
do not understand is that within the pages of these briefs,
especially the last two (Chicana/Chicano studies & British Parliament),
lies the truth that has the power to free Mumia.
These
briefs speak to the core of just how unfair Mumia's trial really
was. They lay out, not in legal speak but in plain English,
the conspiracy that went on: behind closed doors; behind Mumia's
back; and right in the court room itself, and how Anthony Jackson
(Mumia's Lawyer [who was praised by the judge]) was really conspiring
right against Mumia and beside Sabo and Mcgill. It was Jackson
who told the judge and prosecution Mumia's defense strategy
in 1982, and it was the judge who constantly praised Jackson
in 1982, and now it's me asking you is this really a good lawyer.
I
know the answer. And anyone who reads these briefs will too.
Right now we're appealing the decision by Yohn to deny the Amicus,
and anyone who wants to can actually sign on and become a part
of the Amicus. We have the forms. It's just two pages of double-sized,
with a couple of questions. All you have to do is put on your
name (and organization if there is one), address, etc., and
your reason for supporting the Amicus (which you can take right
out of the table of contents of the Amicus). That's all.
And
that will actually put your name on as a party to the Amicus
when we refile. We can fax these forms or mail them to anyone
right away. We just need to make sure we get a lot of these
and fast. This is something that Mumia personally has asked
us all to do. He believes as do we, that this is the most important
thing to do right now to save his life. Mumia believes this
because he understands what is in these briefs. If there is
any doubt within you as to how powerful and important these
are then contact us to speak with us about them. We will explain
to you the importance of this.
